April L. Terrell is the founder of Academic Solutions, an educational consulting firm dedicated to supporting teachers, schools, and school districts with professional development tailored to their specific needs for student achievement.
Her educational career began in Baltimore City Public School System as an early childhood educator and administrator. As an administrator in city schools, April was an instructional leader of an early learning center; coached teachers; and created professional development across all content areas with a focus on common core state standards, high yield instructional strategies, and pedagogy.
Currently, April is a consultant for Ramapo for Children, The Center for the Promotion of Social and Emotional Learning, The School Climate and Culture Initiative, Moritz Consulting, and a national trainer for the I Can Problem Solve interpersonal cognitive development program. She is dedicated to supporting the advancement of social and emotional learning, character development, and positive culture in the school setting and providing educators with resources for imbedding these concepts into the academic curriculum.
April received a BA in Communications from the University of Maryland at College Park, a Master’s degree in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University, and a Certificate in Organizational Change from Towson University. Additionally, April maintains teaching certifications in early childhood, elementary education, and special education.
