Foundations of a Systemic Approach to Positive School Climate
A new professional development workshop series for school and district leadership
This workshop series provides a unique opportunity for school and district leadership to apply basic tools and processes around climate improvement to their own school community while also providing an onboarding ramp for deeper reflection and practice for positive school climate implementation.
What it is:
A workshop series that addresses the urgent need to improve the mental health and resilience of school communities. The series involves:
- online and synchronous instruction
- a networking community of peers and national experts
What you will do:
- Explore a framework for an integrated, systemic, and sustainable approach to positive school climate.
- Discuss examples of what this approach looks like in practice.
- Discuss common challenges and solutions involved in implementing the approach.
- Craft a communication plan to apply this model locally.
Series benefits:
- Learn strategies you can start applying during the 2022-2023 school year.
- Network with peers.
- Gain know-how from national experts to further support your school improvement efforts.
- Develop insight into how the social and emotional well-being of students and staff helps create a positive learning environment.
- Create the basic framework of a written plan to improve your school climate.
Series dates/times: Every other Thursday from January through March (January 19, February 2, February 16, March 2, March 16, and March 30) from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) via Zoom for a total of six sessions.
Registration fee: $750 per district/school leader for six sessions. By registering for the January 19 session, you are registering to participate in the full workshop series.

- Online Registration – We accept check/money order, purchase order and credit card via the online registration process.
- Payment by Check – Please make checks payable to: Saint Elizabeth University and mail to, Center for Human and Social Development, Attn: Melanie Conti “Positive School Climate Workshop Series”, Saint Elizabeth University, 2 Convent Road, Morristown, NJ 07960. Be sure to include the name of the registrant(s) on the check and/or include a copy of their email confirmation(s). Checks are due by Thursday, January 12, 2023.
- Invoices – If you requested for your organization to be billed, the invoices are sent within a week of receiving your registration. We request a copy of a signed purchase order to ensure that funds have been approved for expenditure. Email your purchase order to Melanie Conti at mconti@steu.edu or fax to (972) 290-4751. Be sure to include the name of the registrant(s) with the PO and/or include a copy of their email confirmation(s). Purchase orders/invoices are due by Thursday, January 12, 2023.
